Iberian Pig

PUREBRED

The Iberian pig is a pig breed belonging to the so-called “Iberian trunk”, typical of the Iberian Peninsula.

Within this breed there are different varieties, such as the Lampiño, the Entrepelado, the Torbiscal or the Retinto. They are highly appreciated animals in the food sector for the production of Iberian ham and all kinds of sausages.

These are rustic pigs, whose feed may vary depending on the purpose for which that animal is intended.

The basic difference of the Iberian pig comes from its genetic code, which allows the Iberian to have those infiltrations of fat that make it unique.

The food

 

If it is a pig destined for Cebo de Campo and/or Cebo, its diet is fundamentally rich in cereals: wheat, barley, oats, among others.

On the other hand, if your purpose is an Acorn-fed pig, the last 3-4 months of life will be fed on acorns, grass, roots, and all those natural resources that the dehesa is endowed with.
